Brightening Veterans Lives Fundraising Event - Pinz Bowling Center

Brightening Veterans Lives Fundraising Event

This coming Monday, May 30th is Memorial day. In honor of this, we’d like to talk about Brightening Veteran Lives. This absolutely fantastic organization has raised over $45 million dollars to help active duty service men and women and veterans.

Who is BVL and what do they do?

BVL was founded in 1942 as an effort to support America’s heroes in uniform. 74 years later they are still doing just that. BVL provides recreational therapy via various music and sports activities to our¬†active duty service men and women and veterans. Recreation therapy is designed to improve/maintain mental, physical and emotional well-being as well as reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Recreation therapy in addition to all of the previous benefits, is also used to help veterans maintain or recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities, and build socialization and confidence skills.

BVL does this by funding the purchase of sports equipment, pet therapy, music, arts and crafts, and so much more at various VA Medical Centers, Vet Centers and state homes around the United States. Thanks to BVL, there are more than 500 active duty units that have portable carpet bowling lanes where they can take two seconds from the stress of service and have fun with their comrades.

BVL and Pinz

One thing we love about BVL is that they have an extremely low overhead expense -only 6%! This means that their funding goes exactly to the people you intend your donations to go.

To do our part, Pinz is having a Brightening Veterans Lives event on this coming Saturday, May 28th, and a portion of the proceeds that day will be donated to the BVL.

When: Saturday, May 28th, 2016

Time: 12:00 pm -12:00 am

What: 3 games with shoes for $10 per person

We hope you will come join us celebrate our veterans and continue to support them both on and off the battlefield.
